The Art of Swimming: Photo show in San Diego’s North County

There is undoubtedly an artistic aspect to all sport, and swimming is no exception.  The beauty and grace of swimming is evident daily at swimming pools throughout the world.  Our chief photographer, Mike Lewis, has an particular eye for capturing that beauty and is teaming up with acclaimed sports photographer Donald Miralle to present the “Art of Swimming” at Leucadia Photoworks in Encinitas, California.  Both Lewis and Miralle are products of the sport, having swam competitively from a very early age throughout college and into masters swimming – obviously this helps them see the nuances of the aquatic world. Both posses a unique ability to create images that convey the power and emotion of swimming.

Miralle has created some of the most iconic images in swimming and is a recipient of six World Press Awards. His work has been featured on the cover of numerous magazines including Sport Illustrated and ESPN.  James Colton, Photo Editor Sports Illustrated, notes Miralle “definitely sees things in a different way. He thinks differently. And I think a lot can be learned by other photographers.”

The show is underwritten by FINIS, and CEO John Mix is very excited about supporting this event. “In our opinion Mike Lewis takes some of the best photos in swimming.  Mike’s photos capture the connectivity of what allures swimmers to the water.  His work is beautiful, elegant, and powerful. We are really stoked to work with Mike on a regular basis and participate with him and Donald Miralle to get their works on the walls of those who love swimming.”

The show quickly sold out and a second night has been added for Saturday May 9th. If you’re in the San Diego area don’t miss this fun event.  You can get tickets here.
