Macie McCarter, a Summer Juniors qualifier from North Carolina, will be headed to Ohio State University for the fall of 2026.

McCarter is a backstroke and IMer who attends Marvin Ridge High School in North Carolina where she is a member of the swim team. At the 2025 North Carolina High School State Championships, McCarter finished 6th in the girls 100 backstroke, touching in 56.79. She set a best time in the prelims of the event, coming in at 55.65 to qualify 3rd. She also swam the 200 IM, touching in 2:07.27 to finish 20th.
She also swims for the Mecklenburg Swim Association. At the Speedo Junior Nationals at the end of July, McCarter swam the 50 back (30.50), 100 back (1:05.25), 200 back (2:19.83), and 200 IM (2:24.87). Her highest finish came in the 200 backstroke, where she placed 42nd overall, touching just over a second off her best time of 2:18.37 from July of 2024.

Ohio State is the reigning Big Ten Champions coming into the 2026 season, having defeated the Indiana Hoosiers by more than 90 points at the 2025 meet.
McCarter will help add depth to the Buckeye roster with her times. Last season, she would have been 10th in the 100 backstroke, 9th in the 200 backstroke, 12th in the 200 IM, and 10th in the 400 IM.
She will be joined by BOTR recruit Anna Shnowske and Sarah Juiris on campus next fall.
