Sprinter Rachel Hayden Adds to Missouri Recruiting Haul

It’s about time that we can officially declare that Missouri’s women’s class of 2014, if all successfully navigate their way to campus next fall, will be the best of the Greg Rhodenbaugh era there.

The latest verbal commitment comes from Rachel Hayden of the Carmel Swim Club in Indiana.

Hayden, who trains with Carmel’s club team but races for Indianapolis’ North Central High School, was 3rd at last year’s Indiana High School State Championship meet in the 50 free.

Aside: That event took a 23.81 to return in the top 8, and only two finalists out of the top 16 graduated. That’s going to be a great race next season.

Hayden has been 23.20 in the 50 and 50.92 in the 100 yard freestyles. She can extend a little bit into the longer 200 and 500 yard races, but it looks like she’s lined out to be primarily a sprint freestyler for the Tigers.

This class now includes at least four swimmers. In addition to Hayden, they’ve added Hannah StevensErin Metzger-Seymour, and Sharlene Brady.
