Dual Meet: South Carolina at Arkansas (W)
Date: Friday, November 4
Time: 3 p.m. (CST)
Facility: Arkansas Natatorium
Location: Fayetteville, Ark.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina women’s swimming and diving program heads to Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday to face SEC foe Arkansas at 3 p.m. at the Arkansas Natatorium.

The Gamecocks are coming off of a 157-132 loss at Texas A&M. The Razorbacks are 1-0 on the season after defeating Drury 128-77 on Oct. 14 and are set to host Florida on Thursday.

“This weekend is going to be a great test for our women,” said head coach McGee Moody. “Arkansas is a very talented team, but at the same token, I am very confident in the lineup that we have put together. I’m confident in our young ladies’ ability to race. Hopefully we will go out there and put up a win.”

Carolina’s women earned four victories against the Aggies last Friday. Junior Julia Vincent claimed two of the wins after taking first in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.

Sophomore Emma Barksdale picked up her first victory of the season as she won the 200 IM. Barksdale also contributed to the women’s first place finish in the 400 free relay.

“From a racing standpoint, I thought we raced great,” said Moody. “The times that we put up were faster than what we raced at Kentucky. Given the amount of training we’re doing right now, we’re kind of pegged as a high-volume, high-intensity, early season program. We get a lot of work done, a big workload early in the season and then once we get to the semester break, we start to focus on our championship season.

“Where we are right now, to be swimming as fast as we are, is really good. We had a lot of athletes get some NCAA B cuts and post some of the top times in the country. Overall, I was happy with where we were.”

South Carolina and Arkansas last met on Jan. 18, 2013, where the Gamecocks fell 223-77.
