Six Men Set to Join Bryant Roster in 2019-20

SMITHFIELD, R.I. –Bryant University men’s swimming and diving welcomes six-men that will make up the Bulldogs Class of 2023 this fall.

The Class of 2023 boasts an accomplished group of swimmers and divers from five different states across the Northeast.

Jake Williams | Peabody, Mass. | Mystic Valley Regional Charter School

A four-year letterwinner with the Mystic Valley Regional Eagles … Set the 100 fly, 200 free, 500 free and 200 IM record in 2019 … Six-time all-star and two-time MVP … Vice President of the National Honors Society in High School.

Personal: Son of Robert and Leslie … Has three sisters: Merideth, Emily and Caroline.

Ryan Burke | Long Branch, N.J. | Christian Brothers Academy

Four-year letterwinner with the Christian Brothers Colts … Three-time team state champions … Four-time Monmouth County and Shore Conference team champions … Awarded all-conference … Captain of the team in his senior year … Named No. 1 team in NJ his senior year according to NJ.com … Also swam Club for the Red Bank YMCA.

Personal: Son of Ken and Denise.

Jackson McDonough | Lincoln, R.I. | La Salle Academy

Four-year letterwinner for the La Salle Academy Rams … 2018-19 State Champion in the 200 IM … Three-time all-state and all-division … holds three school records in the 100 fly, 200 free and 200 free relay … Captain in his junior and senior year … Also Swam Club for the Crimson Aquatics … Honors student throughout high school.

Personal: Son of Brian and Elisa … Has one sister, Darien and one brother, Tristen … Grandfather James Warren played Football for URI and Baseball for the Providence Steamrollers and the Providence Gridiron, the Dodgers Farm League in the 1950’s.

Chris Kerrigan | Watertown, Mass. | Watertown HS

Co-founder of the Watertown Raiders swim team … Two-time Middlesex league All-star … Awarded MVP in 2019 … School record holder in the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 100 freestyle … Also swam club for the Charles River Aquatics … Involved in various community service initiatives including Camp Sunshine and Pies Across the Sky.

Personal: Son of Keith and Mary … Has one brother, Parker.

Asher Stukelman | New York, N.Y. | Frank McCourt

Swam for the Badger Swim Club … 2016 SYC Metro Junior Olympic high point champion (147 points) … 2017 Maccabiah two-time silver medalist … 2018 Futures qualifier … attended the 2019 Maccabiah European Championships this summer.

Personal: Son of Inna and Alex.

Payton Nicastro | State College, Pa. | State College Area HS

Three-year letter winner for the State College Area Lions …. 200 Medley Relay Record and All-American in 2019 … 2019 NISCA Academic All-American … Also a member of the Outing Club in High School.

Personal: Son of Jeffrey and Adriene … Has one brother, Jackson.

Wong Fu Kang | Johor, Malaysia | Southern Illinois University/British International School, Phuket

Transfer from Southern Illinois University where he was All-MAC second team … broke the 100-breast school record with a time of 53.86 at the MAC Championships … Recorded three of the top-five 100-breast times in SIU history … 12 top-five finishes … Holds Malaysian national record of 1:02.46 in the 100-meter breaststroke … Competed in Asia Swimming Championships … Named most outstanding swimmer of the year during prep career

Personal: Son of Won Kok Keong and Lee Lee Fei … Has two siblings, Won Fu Liang and Wong Shi Min.

Drew Arnold | South Windsor, Conn. | South Windsor HS

A four-year letterwinner with the South Windsor Bobcats … Set the school record in his freshman, sophomore and junior year … Qualified for states all four years and state opens his senior year … Made the honor roll during his junior year.

Personal: Son of Scott and Gretchen … Has one brother, Will … Uncle Dean Pinto played basketball at Castleton College.

Tyler Stringfellow | Wrentham, Mass. | King Philip Regional HS

A four-time Hokomock League All-Star representing the King Philip Regional Warriors … First place in the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard free, 500-yard free and 400-yard free relay at the 2019 Hockomock Championships … 2018 Hockomock League MVP … Competed in the Massachusetts State Championships all four years of high school … Seven-time finalist at the 2018 ISCA TYR Summer Senior Championships … Also swam club for Kingfish Swimming.

John Famiglietti | Newington, Conn. | Newington HS

Captain of the Newington Indians swimming & dive team … Made it to the state championship finals for diving in his sophomore, junior and senior year.
