Records fell Friday morning on day three of the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Championships in Knoxville, TN. In total, five conference records were taken down at Allan Jones Natatorium during the day’s prelim session.
Florida Gulf Coast freshman Kira Toussaint had the most impressive swim of the morning, speeding to an NCAA “A” cut and conference record in the women’s 100 back, touching in 51.68. Toussaint dominated the field, touching almost three full seconds ahead of Liberty University’s Kendall Hough, who finished at 54.66.
Heading into tonights finals, the Florida Gulf Coast women are looking to take the lead from Liberty. FGCU, the five-time defending champions, trail LU by just 26 points.
On the men’s side of things, Dylan Ludwick took down the CCSA record in the 200 free with a 1:37.19. Ludwick will look to defend his 2013 title in that event this evening.
Thiago Parravicini of UIW cruised to a CCSA record in the 100 breast at 54.21. Parravicini will aim to help his UIW teammates take over the UMBC Retrievers tonight, who currently lead with 288.5 points. The Cardinals are only four-and-a-half points behind UMBC at 284.
