Peaty, Guy, Dean, Colbert Headline English Roster For 2026 Commonwealth Games

2026 COMMONWEALTH GAMES

  • July 24th – July 20th (pool swimminger)
  • Tollcross International Swimming Centre
  • LCM

Swim England has revealed its 42-strong swimming pool rosters for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, headed to Glasgow, Scotland, in July. The squad is comprised of 28 Olympic and 14 para swimmers, with the nation hoping to improve upon its 32-medal haul from the 2022 edition of the Games, which took place in Birmingham.

Despite not having competed at this year’s Aquatics GB Championships, 2020 Olympic Games champion Tom Dean indeed made the squad, with the 26-year-old seeking to upgrade his trio of silvers earned across the men’s 100m free, 200m free and 200m IM from four years ago.

He’s joined by Olympic medalist teammate James Guy, the man who took home 100m fly silver, 200m fly bronze and multiple relay medals in Birmingham.

Glasgow will mark an impressive fourth Commonwealth Games appearance for the recently-married Adam Ramsay-Peaty, with the Olympic champion having already collected seven medals, including four golds, spanning his Games career.

Freya Colbert is heading to her second Games, fresh off breaking her own British record in the 200m free last month in London. The 22-year-old will be chasing her first individual Commonwealth Games hardware, following in the footsteps of Birmingham individual medalists Imogen Clark and Abbie Wood, who were also named to the lineup.

Swim England Head of Sport and the Team England Team Leader for Swimming and Para-Swimming, Richard Blackshaw, said: “The swimming team is immensely proud and excited to have the opportunity to represent Team England and the English swimming community at the Commonwealth Games, an honour that does not come around often for athletes.

“What makes this team particularly special is its fully integrated nature, bringing together Para and Olympic pathway athletes to compete as one unified group, reflecting the very best of inclusivity and shared ambition.

“United by a common goal, the team is determined to represent Team England with distinction this summer, both in and out of the pool, and to showcase the strength, resilience and talent within English swimming.”

Team England Chef de Mission, Jonathon Riall, said: “It’s brilliant to be able to announce such a strong swimming squad for Glasgow 2026.

“We have a number of returning Commonwealth champions and true stars of the sport, alongside some new faces who are set to make their mark this summer.”

As I said, Tom Deans injury post literally has him giving away that he knew they were gonna pick him anyway. Great job guys adding a guy who hasnt hit any times since 2024 instead of people trying to break through.

You have got to question it. Selecting Dean over 9 swimmers who have hit QTs when his ‘form’ this year is 8th at Edinburgh International in the 200 free and nothing else.

Also not selecting Wizard despite being 1st home in the 100 fly but selecting Little where the 4×200 will likely not even have heats and therefore block Wood from swimming in a relay final that could have had 1×1:54 and 3×1:56s from this years form alone. At least that has the opportunity at Europeans. Unless of course they give Little just a heats 4×100 swim.

It’s a great team nonetheless, lots of medal potential, great to see blocksidge for an emphasis at the long distances for the first… Read more »

Ref Little, without going against the provisions of the selection policy and hence opening up the possibility of an appeal, they were duty bound to pick her for a place she had earned of right because the 4×2 team qualified automatically. That said, it doesn’t mean she has to swim that relay if they want Abbie to swim the 4×2 and as you note she could get outings in the 4×1 relays (mixed or women’s) or slot into a space in an individual event (the 50 looks most likely to have a third place available on the face of it).

Conversely with the women’s medley relay, that team did not automatically qualify, so while it is unfortunate for Betsy in… Read more »

9 swimmers who hit QT’s miss out due to the 28 swimmer cap:

Josh Gammon, Kieran Grant, Reece Grady, Lucy Fox, Betsy Wizard, Blythe Kinsman, Harriet Rogers, Christian Ryan, Honey Osrin.

Gammon won the 50 Fly at trials in a fast 23.1 and Wizard was the top english swimmer in the 100 Fly but both miss out.

None of them is near being a potential medalist nor needed on relays.

I’d also go with Dean over all
Of them.

23.1 from Gammon is definitely medal challenging. Chalmers and McEvoy are the only Commonwealth swimmers to have gone quicker so far this year.

Gammon is a 1 trick pony. When did he go 23.1 in LC??

He went 23.1 LC literally at trials this year, the selection meet for Commies.

He’s also got LC PB’s of 51.6/1:56.9 in the 100/200, by no means a one-trick pony.

dean hasnt shown any medal threatening form since Paris. His recent track record is getting benched on worlds relays and failing to make semi finals.
