Olympic medalist and world record holder Noè Ponti has been nominated for Switzerland’s Sportsman of the Year award for the second year in a row.
The award is given to one athlete each year as part of the Swiss Sports Awards in recognition of notable performances between November 1, 2024 and October 31, 2025. Athletes with outstanding achievements at major international events such as the Olympic Games, World and European Championships, and high-profile national and international competitions are eligible for nomination.
Ponti is one of six male athletes nominated for this year’s honor. He is up for recognition alongside Loïc Meillard (alpine skiing), Marco Odermatt (alpine skiing), Armon Orlik (Swiss wrestling), Noe Seifert (artistic gymnastics) and Franjo von Allmen (alpine skiing).
Ponti was the runner-up for the 2024 Sportsman of the Year award, with Odermatt taking home the title for the fourth consecutive year.
Odermatt has been one of the best athletes in Switzerland since 2021, with his win at the 2024 awards ceremony breaking tennis player Roger Federer’s record of straight Sportsman of the Year titles at the Swiss Sports Awards.
Ponti enjoyed a great year of achievements in the pool in 2025, breaking two short course world records and eight Swiss national records. He won three gold medals in the 50 fly, 100 fly and 100 IM at the World Aquatics Short Course Championships last December and brought home silver medals in the 50 fly and 100 fly at the World Championships in July. He also picked up two victories during the World Cup tour in October.
Ponti currently holds six LCM national records, nine SCM national records and two SCM world records, making him one of the top swimmers in both Switzerland and the world.

The annual Swiss Sports Awards celebrate the country’s most outstanding sports personalities of the year.
The 2025 Swiss Sports Awards ceremony will take place on January 4, 2026, to honor athletes’ achievements from the past year. Viewers will be able to help decide who wins by televoting during the live broadcast.

You should have listed the female nominees also. I’m sure that’s the same general breakdown…Kambundji and a bunch of skiers. Kambundji was perhaps the most shocking track world champion in Tokyo, lowering her personal best in the final by .16 to defeat perhaps the deepest field ever at 100 hurdles.
