INDIANAPOLIS – Oakland’s women’s swimming and diving swept the second set of 2021 Nike #HLSD Swimmers and Divers of the Week honors on Wednesday. The Golden Grizzlies defeated Eastern Michigan for the first time in almost a decade.

Susan LaGrand | Oakland | Junior | Grand Rapids, Mich.
Susan LaGrand continued her dominant presence for the Golden Grizzlies going a perfect four-of-four in first place finishes in back-to-back weekends. The junior was responsible for four of Oakland’s 12 top times on the day. LaGrand touched the wall first in the 400 medley (3:48.79), 100 back (55.16), 200 back (1:59.27) and 200 IM (2:04.36). LaGrand’s performance help guide the women’s swimming and diving team past Eastern Michigan for a 182-118 win en route to its first win over the Eagles in seven meetings, since the 2011-12 season.

Bernie Turchi | Oakland | Senior | Hartland, Mich.
Oakland’s Bernie Turchi lead the Golden Grizzlies in the 3 meter (288.15) placing second, and tallied a 262.64 in the 1 meter competition, good for fifth place. Turchi’s performance help guide the women’s swimming and diving team past Eastern Michigan for a 182-118 win en route to its first win over the Eagles in seven meetings, since the 2011-12 season.
