INDIANAPOLIS – Redshirt sophomore Christian Bart from Oakland won the #HLSD Men’s Swimmer of the Week honors after a perfect weekend with three first place finishes, while sophomore Rachel Contich from Cleveland State also had three first place finishes, earning her the #HLSD Women’s Swimmer of the Week honors.

Oakland’s Christian Bart won first place in all three of his races Saturday as the Golden Grizzlies defeated Wayne State, 137-104. In individual races, the redshirt sophomore placed first in the 50 free (20.40) and 100 free (45.18). Bart anchored the first place 200 medley relay team, finishing in 1:29.78. This is Bart’s second Swimmer of the Week honor this season.

Rachel Contich | CSU | Sophomore | Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Contich went a perfect three-for-three in posting first-place finishes in the Vikings’ season-opening dual meet this past weekend. Contich began her season by placing first in the 200 freestyle, winning the event by over six seconds. She then came back to comfortably win the 500 freestyle before closing her day by swimming the third leg on the winning 400 freestyle relay. Her split in the relay was the fastest split of any of the 16 swimmers that competed during the race.
