NY Native and NCSA Finalist Alex Fox Heads West with Verbal to UCLA

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

New York native and Condors Swim Club’s Alex Fox has verbally committed to UCLA as a part of the Bruins’ 2026 recruiting class.

I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of California, Los Angeles! I want to thank my family, friends, teammates, and coaches at @condors_swim_club for supporting me through this process! I would also love to thank Coach Jordan and the rest of the UCLA coaching staff for giving me this opportunity! GO BRUINS!💙💛🐻

Fox set a trio of lifetime bests at the 2025 NCSA Spring Championships; she stamped best times in the 400 IM (4:20.68), 500 freestyle (4:54.09), and the 1000 free (9:56.63). Her best finish came in the 1000, where she finished 5th, and she also took 6th in the 1650.

She set a notable best at the Senior Metro Winter Championships this past February, clocking 16:45.11 in the 1650 free to finish 4th overall, knocking nearly 11 seconds off of her best from three months earlier.

As a junior at Nyack High School, Fox swam a pair of top-eight finishes at the NYSPHSAA Girls State Championships. Fox finished 6th in the 200 IM in 2:07.37, just off of her best time from just over a week before, when she clocked 2:06.05. She also finished 8th in the 500 free, touching in 5:00.61.

Best Times SCY:

  • 200 Free: 1:52.63
  • 500 Free: 4:54.09
  • 1000 Free: 9:56.63
  • 1650 Free: 16:45.11
  • 200 IM: 2:06.05
  • 400 IM: 4:20.68

The UCLA women finished 7th at the 2025 Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships.

Based on Fox’s best times, she would have finished 38th in the 400 IM, 40th in the 500 free, and 29th in the 1650 free.

Fox was named a NISCA All-American in the 500 free last season and a 2024 USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

Fox adds plenty of depth to the Bruins’ distance group. With a year still to improve her times, Fox could find herself bolstering the Bruins’ point total to potentially overtake Minnesota, which finished 49 points ahead of UCLA a season ago.

Fox will join Ava Otteson, Meredith O’Grady, Zoie Fjare, Mia Bugarin, Sora Koike, and Olivia Sina in the Bruins’ 2026 recruiting class.
