New Mexico State Signs 5 in Early Period

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State swimming and diving head coach Rick Pratt is pleased to announce the signing of five student-athletes during the early signing period.

The Aggies will welcome three swimmers and two divers.

“Our goal with recruiting is to find individuals who have a passion for our sport and academics, and on that side we really hit our mark. All five ladies are incredible individuals who have strong ambitions,” Pratt said. “I am very proud of our recruiting efforts and this is a strong class to sign in the early period. We still have a couple pieces to put together, but these ladies will all contribute immediately and allow our program to keep moving forward.”

Quote from Coach Pratt: “It is very exciting to have Lauren’s commitment. She is a tough trainer, has great potential, and is fun to be around. Our staff and team made an immediate connection with Lauren and it was clear to us early in the process that she was a perfect fit. She has the character and drive to be amazing.”

Aimee Hatfield – Pheonix, Ariz.

Club Team: Phoenix Swim Club

Aimee is a bright young lady who will represent us well in the classroom, the pool and the community! She’s definitely a game day swimmer and loves to race. Her competitiveness will be an awesome addition to our sprinters and will continue to drive that group forward for the next four years!”

Lanie McAlpin – San Antonio, Texas

She’ll contribute immediately in the backstroke events and has potential in the fly and IM events as well. We’re excited about her future with our team and as a student here.

Raina Brommer – Riverside, Calif.

Club Coach: Jimmy Adams

High School: Martin Luther King High School

Intended Major: Kinesiology

Quote from Coach Bogner: “Raina is everything that we look for in an Aggie. She has great drive and work ethic, and she connected with the team immediately. Finding athletes, like Raina, with experience on platform is rare coming out of high school. Her coach, Jimmy Adams, has done a great job developing her talent. Raina’s potential isn’t limited to the platform, her diving on springboard is great, as well. She is going to be a big contender in the WAC in all three events; and that is only the beginning.”

Katie Nissle – Thornton, Colo.

Club Team: Mile High Dive Club

Club Coaches: Jack Perkins and Jenn Hess

High School: Horizon High School

Intended Major: Animal Science – Companion Animals

Quote from Coach Bogner: “I was determined to sign Katie from the first time I saw her dive. She has many natural abilities that typically take years to develop and a gymnastics background that has developed her strength and aerial awareness. Katie fearless, and is truly a diamond in the rough. I am very eager to work with both of our fall signees.”
