NCSA Finalist Henry Guo to Compete for Penn Beginning This Fall (2025)

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Henry Guo, a finalist at the NCSA Spring Championship whom we named a “Best of the Rest” butterfly recruit on our latest re-rank of the boys’ high school class of 2025, is headed to Philadelphia to compete for the University of Pennsylvania starting in the fall of 2025. Guo first announced his verbal commitment to swim for the Quakers back in June 2024.

“I am incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton School of Finance! I would like to thank my coaches, Scotty and Euge, my teammates, as well as my family and friends for guiding me through my swimming journey. Most of all, I would like to thank Coach Mike and Coach Maddie for this opportunity. Go Quakers!”

The Illinois native recently graduated from Hinsdale Central High School, where he competed on the varsity swimming team all four years. Guo currently swims year-round with Hinsdale Swim Club, primarily specializing in fly, back and IM.

At the NCSA Spring Championship back in March, Guo turned in a series of top performances, clocking four best times over the course of the weekend. He claimed the runner-up spot in both the 50 fly (21.56) and 200 fly (1:44.54) and placed 10th in the 100 back (48.58) and 11th in the 100 free (44.63), setting personal bests in each event. Guo also took 4th in the 200 IM (1:48.29) and 5th in the 100 fly (47.37).

A few weeks earlier, Guo posted a series of lifetime bests at the Illinois Senior Championships. He won the 200 fly (1:45.04 – PB) and 200 IM (1:47.52), in addition to placing 2nd in the 50 free (20.63 – PB). He also clocked a lifetime best in the 200 free (1:38.59) as the leadoff on his team’s 800 free relay.

Most recently, Guo competed at Junior Nationals (LCM) in Irvine, where he enjoyed yet another weekend of fast races. He finished 11th in the 100 fly (54.41), 20th in the 200 fly (2:02.35) and 28th in the 50 fly (25.01), posting lifetime best times in all three events.

Best Times SCY

  • 100 fly – 47.13
  • 200 fly – 1:44.54
  • 100 back – 48.58
  • 200 back – 1:47.76
  • 200 IM – 1:46.93

A Division I Mid-Major program, Penn competes in the Ivy League Conference, where the men’s team took 7th at the 2025 Ivy League Championships. The Quakers sent one swimmer, Matt Fallon, to compete at the NCAA Division I Championships, where he was the runner-up in the 200 breast with a time of 1:48.87.

Based on the results from the 2025 Ivy League Championships, Guo would have landed in the ‘A’ final in the 200 fly, the ‘B’ final in the 100 fly and the ‘C’ final in the 100 back, 200 back and 200 IM, putting him in a position to be a key contributor right from the start.

Joining Guo in the Quakers’ class of 2029 are Pippin Kantakom, Andrew Xie and Aaron Jia, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
