Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Addison MacDonald, a Massachusetts high school Division I State Championship finalist, has announced her commitment to compete for Lafayette College beginning in the fall of 2025.
“I am extremely excited and blessed to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at Lafayette College! I would like to thank my parents for being there for me every step of the way these past 10 years. I would also like to thank all of my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for their endless support day in and day out. A special thanks to Coach Brian for helping me with this process, and finally Coach Dailey and Coach Rinde for this amazing opportunity!”
The Massachusetts native recently graduated from Mansfield High School, where she was a member of the varsity swimming and diving team for the past three years. A versatile competitor in the water, MacDonald currently trains year-round with Bluefish Swim Club, where she excels at the longer distances of free, back, fly and IM.
At the 2025 MIAA Division I State Championship, MacDonald placed 8th in the 200 free in a season-best time of 2:00.58. She also placed 8th in the 500 free in 5:22.64 and helped her team to a 17th-place finish in the 400 free relay and an 18th-place finish in the 200 free relay.
A few weeks later, MacDonald competed at the New England 15-18 AG Championship, where she turned in two season-best times in both the 1000 free (11:10.36) and the 1650 free (18:50.08).
Best Times SCY
- 200 free – 1:58.85
- 500 free – 5:16.95
- 1000 free – 10:57.43
- 1650 free – 18:25.30
- 200 back – 2:09.90
- 200 fly – 2:14.28
A Division I Mid-Major program, Lafayette is led by head coach James Dailey, who has been at the helm since the 1994-1995 season. The Leopards compete in the Patriot League, and the women finished 9th at the Patriot League Championships in February. To earn a second swim at the 2025 championship, it took times of 1:54.72/5:01.75 in the 200/500 free, 2:05.09 in the 200 back and 2:09.70 in the 200 fly, putting MacDonald outside the cutoff in most of her top events.
On the team itself, MacDonald is poised to rank 3rd in the 500 free, 1000 free, 1650 free and 200 back, setting her up to be a strong contributor for the Leopards, although that does not account for the other incoming freshmen.
MacDonald cited the school’s overall atmosphere as one of the reasons she chose to attend.
“The atmosphere at Lafayette was amazing, from the team to the school as a whole,” MacDonald said. “After visiting campus for the first time I knew I loved the school. The coaching staff is so energetic and motivated!”
MacDonald will be a first-generation college student. In high school, she started a club called Morgan’s Message, part of a national nonprofit, to promote student-athlete mental health and bring together students with similar experiences to help them feel less alone.
Set to join MacDonald in the pool this fall are Amanda Ford, Luca Pirone, Claire Chauhan, Josie Van Schaften, Addie Pollitt, Lauren Ferguson, Keira Gilligan, Frankie DiGiovanni, Kristina Fleck, Mya Uku and Katie Scanlon.
