Marist Earns Verbal Commit From Futures Qualifier Caden Hardy

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Futures qualifier Caden Hardy, a senior at Evanston Township High School, has verbally committed to Marist College’s class of 2026.

He trains with Wildkit Swimming Organization in Illinois.

Top SCY Times:

  • 200 breast – 2:04.43
  • 100 breast – 56.81
  • 200 IM – 1:53.08
  • 100 back – 52.93
  • 400 IM – 4:06.47

Hardy has Futures qualifying times in the 100 breast, 200 IM, and 400 IM.

His lifetime best times would have earned him  8th in 200 breast ‘A’ final at the 2020 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships, 3rd in 100 breast ‘B’ final, and  7th in 200 IM ‘B’ final. This would be game-changing points-wise for Marist who had no finalists in the men’s 100 breast at that meet.

Hardy was a three-time finalist at the 2020 Illinois Winter Regional Championships, placing highest in the 200 back where he earned 3rd place with a lifetime best of 2:01.73 (which he has now lowered to a 1:57.40). He is coming off a stellar winter season; All five of his lifetime best times listed are from the same senior mid-season meet in November 2021.

Now that Jackson Klarsfeld, who placed 5th in the 200 breast ‘A’ final in 2020 with a 2:02.59, has graduated, Hardy looks to be the fastest member of the Red Fox’’s breaststroke squad. The crew is also made up of sophomore Christopher Dauser and freshman Adrian Bankowski.

Senior Ryan Kaplan was Marist’s highest finisher in the 200 IM at the 2020 MAAC Championships where he placed 2nd in the ‘B’ final with a 1:51.94.

Hardy is joining Kevin McNamara in the Red Fox’s class of 2026 commits.

While the 2021 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference canceled due to COVID-19, in 2020 the Marist men placed 2nd under head coach Larry VanWagner who has since retired and been replaced by Anthony Randall.
