Kevin Renshaw Named British Swimming’s Pathway Implementation Manager

British Swimming has announced that Kevin Renshaw will be taking on the organization’s new Pathway Implementation Manager position. In making the move, 51-year-old Renshaw will be leaving his role as Head Coach of British Swimming’s National Centre Loughborough, where his recent athletes Jack Burnell, Molly Renshaw and Tim Shuttleworth earned Rio 2016 Olympic berths.

In his new position, Renshaw will be responsible for the delivery of British Swimming’s Performance Pathway Strategy under Head of Performance Pathway Director, Tim Jones. Renshaw will play an active role in the development of British Swimming’s future talent through the World Class Program. The program is composed of the designated ‘Podium’ and ‘Podium Potential’ swimmers, who are identified as athletes realistically capable of making Olympic teams within the next quadrennial.

On his new role, Renshaw states, “I am looking forward to getting started with this new role. It’s an exciting chance to help shape the next generation of Olympians and I am looking forward to working alongside Tim Jones as the sport enters the Tokyo 2020 quadrennial.”

“I have loved coaching at the National Centre in Loughborough and wish all of the athletes the best for the future as they continue what I am sure will be very successful swimming careers. I’m very proud of everything we’ve achieved together but now feel ready to take the next step in my career. I wish all the staff and athletes at Loughborough all the success they deserve.”

British Swimming National Performance Director Chris Spice commented, “We are really excited to have someone of Kevin’s quality helping to shape our future talent for Tokyo and beyond. Kevin brings to the role a load of Olympic and senior team experience. Together with the leadership of Tim Jones, our pathway programme couldn’t be in a better place.”

Because the key to improving one’s national team is to always add another layer of bureaucracy?
