Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Jonathan Vogt of Kernersville, NC will stay close to home next fall, committing to Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina. Vogt, who swims for Enfinity Aquatic Club, is an accomplished breaststroker who has qualified for Summer Juniors and the US Open.
I’m blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Catawba College! I thank God for guiding me through the recruiting process, my family and friends for their love and support, and Coach Gunther for pushing me since day one. Thank you to Coach Gearing and the Catawba coaching staff for the opportunity to join a growing program and the ability to contribute to the success of Catawba Swimming. Go Indians!
Vogt hit personal bests in his main events at Winter Junior Nationals last year, swimming a 57.40 in the 100 breast and 2:03.06 in the 200 breast. The latter still stands as his best time, while he has since lowered his 100 breast PB to a 57.21. Vogt made huge strides in the breaststrokes his junior year, as he entered last season with times of 58.61/2:07.28 in 100/200.
At NC Senior Championships this past summer, Vogt continued to build off his momentum, taking 4th in the 200 breast (2:21.83) and 10th in the 100 breast (1:05.21), both of which were PBs.
PB Progression:
| Season | 100 Breast | 200 Breast |
|---|---|---|
| 2022–2023 | 1:01.28 | 2:14.32 |
| 2023–2024 | 58.61 | 2:07.28 |
| 2024–2025 | 57.40 | 2:03.06 |
Best SCY Times
- 100 Breast: 57.21
- 200 Breast: 2:03.06
Catawba College is a Division II program in the South Atlantic Conference, and they finished 2nd at conference championships last season. The team was led by Maksymilian Minichowski, who captured four individual titles across the three sprint freestyle events and the 100 breaststroke.
Vogt’s best times would have ranked him 6th and 3rd on Catawba’s roster in the 100 and 200 breast, respectively. Although 6th on the depth chart, his 100 breast time would have placed him 9th out of prelims—just outside the championship final—while his 200 breast would have been good for 5th overall. With the program already producing four A-finalists in the breaststroke events last season, Vogt will add depth to an already strong training group and a key part of Catawba’s success.
He’ll join another breaststroke specialist, Drew Watson from Jacksonville, Florida. Watson is currently the only other public commitment for the Indians’ class of 2030.
