California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as Director of Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving. Reporting to the Director of Athletics or designee, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all aspects of the Division I swimming and diving programs.
The Director will establish and execute a clear vision aligned with the mission and values of the University and the Department of Athletics. This position is responsible for the overall administration and competitive success of the programs, including recruiting, coaching, student-athlete development, staff supervision, compliance, and fiscal management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for CSUB’s Division I men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs
- Recruit and develop academically and athletically qualified student-athletes
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-accountability team culture
- Ensure full compliance with NCAA, Conference, and institutional regulations
- Manage program budgets, scheduling, travel, and operational logistics
- Supervise and mentor assistant coaches and support staff
- Promote academic success, APR performance, and student-athlete retention
- Represent the University professionally with alumni, donors, media, and community stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- NCAA Division I coaching experience preferred
- Demonstrated success in recruiting and program development
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
