Il Primatista Mondiale Junior SunWoo Guida La Corea Alle Olimpiadi

La Corea del sud ha svelato il suo roster per i giochi olimpici che si svolgeranno tra 20 giorni a Tokyo.

12 atleti, 7 donne e 5 uomini. Il contingente di quest’anno comprende 4 atleti in più rispetto all’edizione 2016. Gli unici atleti già presenti a Rio sono Kim Seoyeong e An Sehyeon.

il miglior piazzamento della Corea del sud alle Olimpiadi del 2016 è stato il 9 ° posto di Kim Seoyeong nei 100 metri farfalla femminili. Il nuotatore più famoso del paese è la medaglia d’oro olimpica del 2008 nei 400m stile libero maschili, Park Tae Hwan. Alle Olimpiadi di Rio gli fu concesso di competere all’ultimo minuto.

Anche se Park non si è mai ufficialmente ritirato, il 31enne ha smesso di gareggiare l’anno scorso.

In sua assenza, Hwang Sunwoo rimane l’unica speranza di medaglie della Corea.

Hwang, 18 anni, ha stabilito il record mondiale juniores nei 200 metri stile libero maschili appena lo scorso maggio, registrando il tempo di 1:44.96.

Quel tempo lo ha classificato al quinto posto nel ranking mondiale stagionale.
