Golden Grizzlies dual the Wildcats and UIC

The Oakland swimming and diving team is back in action this weekend when the Golden Grizzlies travel to Evanston, Ill., to take on Northwestern and UIC in a double dual at the Norris Aquatics Center. Action begins at 1 p.m. CT.

Oakland Notes: The Golden Grizzlies started the 2014-15 season strong with a pair of road victories against two Wisconsin Horizon League foes.

In aiding Oakland to their respective two-win starts, swimmers Aleksander Danielewskiand Patricia Aschan along with diver Tricia Grant were named Horizon League Athletes of the Week.

Danielewski’s time of 1:50.03 in the 200 back not only set a new record at Milwaukee’s Klotsche Natatorium, but is among the top 50 times in the NCAA early on.

Coming Up: Oakland opens up the home portion of the 2014-15 slate when the Golden Grizzlies women host Ohio and Youngstown State Friday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. The men will be in the pool Saturday, Nov. 1 when both teams host Wayne State at 1 p.m.
