Fake transgender quote scandal par Swimming Australia ne Mollie ko defend kiya

Controversy tab start hui jab Mollie O’Callaghan ke naam se ak mangadhant photo X, Facebook aur Instagram par viral ho gayi. Post me likha tha “Agar uss aadmi Lia Thomas ko compete karna allow kiya gaya, toh main 2028 ke Olympics me participate nahi karunga.” Isme Thomas ke saath pool share karne ko ‘insulting’ bhi bataya gaya tha.

Statement me kaha gaya hai, “Social Media posts par Dolphin Mollie O’Callaghan ke naam se fabricated quotes dikhai de rahe hain. Kisi bhi stage par O’Callaghan ka koi interview nahi liya gaya hai aur na hi unhone trans athletes par koi comments kiye hain. Meta ko iss fake news me baare me inform kar diya gaya hai aur O’Callaghan aur Swimming Australia ne ise hatane ki request ki hai.”

Organization ke swift action ke baad bhi, kai posts kai dino baad bhi online rahe, jo real time misinformation se niptane ke challenges ko highlight karta hai. Meta ne confirm kiya ki unhe request receive hui hai aur wo matter ko investigate kar rahe hain.

Controversy ke time O’Callaghan Indiana me World Cup Short Course Meet me compete kar rahi thi, jahan unhone 200m freestyle me 1:50.77 ke time ke saath ak new Commonwealth record set kiya- jo unke rivals se 2 sec aage tha.

Lia Thomas transgender sports debate ke center mein bani hui hain

University of Pennsylvania ki former collegiate swimmer aur ak transgender woman Lia Thomas, international sports mein ek controversial (yaani vichar-vimarsh ka) chehra ban chuki hain.

2022 mein unhone 500-yard freestyle event jeet kar U.S. national college title jeetne wali first transgender athlete banne ka record banaya.

Lekin iske baad, World Aquatics ne ak new policy introduce ki, jisme kaha gaya ki jo transgender women male puberty ka koi bhi hissa experience kar chuki hain, unhe female category mein compete karne se roka jayega.

Thomas ne Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ke through challenge karne ki koshish ki, lekin unki appeal nakam rahi.

Baad mein, World Aquatics ke president Husain Al-Musallam ne confirm kiya ki competition me fairness se compromise kiye bina inclusivity ensure karne ke liye transgender athletes ke liye ak new “open category” banayi jayegi.
