It was a week of well-documented Russian dominance, and the 2015 European Games closed Saturday with Russia holding more than half of the gold medals given out in swimming.
It took up until the very last individual event of the 2015 European Games for Israel to earn a gold medal in swimming, but sprinter Ziv Kalontrov made it worth the wait.
The Russian team capped off their tremendous 23 gold medal-winning performance over the course of these games with a new World Junior Record in Chupkov’s 100 breaststroke race, as well as in the men’s 400 medley relay event.
