The 2025 World Aquatics Championships are on the horizon, which means the World Aquatics Junior Championships are also nearing their beginning.
Slated for the Aquatics Complex in Otopeni, Romania from August 19th through August 24th, the junior competition offers us a peek into the young talent bubbling beneath the surface around the globe.
Great Britain has just revealed its 14-strong lineup for World Juniors, one that includes two swimmers who will also be representing the nation in Singapore.
Max Morgan and Jacob Mills will fly the flag at the two competitions, with the former having made the squad for breaststroke while the latter made waves in the sprint freestyle.
Just 17 years of age, Morgan won the 50m breaststroke (27.69), placed 2nd in the men’s 100m breaststroke (1:00.10) and placed 6th in the 200m breaststroke (2:15.47) at the 2025 Aquatics GB Championships, the meet which served as the World Championships Trials.
There in Sheffield, Mills scorched a lifetime best of 48.03 to reap silver in the men’s 100m freestyle and hit 21.99 as the runner-up in the 50m free to announce his arrival to the world.
Joining Morgan and Mills in Romania will be Amelie Blocksidge, the 16-year-old who topped the 1500m free podium while also earning 800m free bronze at this year’s European Junior Championships.
Amalie Smith of RTW Monson was another standout from Lithuania, with the teen firing off a new European Jr Championships meet record of 4:37.02 en route to winning the girls’ 400m IM.
British Age Record holder Filip Nowacki also made the grade, as did Theodora Taylor who has shifted from breaststroke to sprint freestyle recently.
