David Pink, Coach of One of Texas’ Top High School Teams, Suffers a Heart Attack

David Pink, the head coach of one of the top high school programs in Texas, has been hospitalized after suffering a heart attack.

Pink is the head coach of Atascocita High School’s swimming & diving teams and also the President, Administrator, and a coach with Eagle Swimming Association

At last year’s Texas 6A High School Swimming & Diving Championships, for the state’s biggest schools, Atascocita finished 5th in the boys’ meet, one spot behind district rivals Kingwood High School in one of Houston’s swimming hotbeds.

The Eagle Swimming Association that he also runs has over 200 swimmers across all ages. The boys’ team recently finished 17th at the Texas Age Group Championships among 69 participating teams.

Pink, who has three children who are also swimmers, suffered a heart attack on Wednesday morning and had to undergo emergency surgery. As of Thursday, he was recovering in the ICU. Social media posts say that the surgery “went well.”

The local swimming community has launched a Meal Train site to help the family as they navigate Pink’s recovery, which also accepts donations and gift certificates to fill in gaps in the schedule.
