David Laudati, a former youth swim coach in Goodyear, Arizona, has pleaded guilty to charges of voyeurism. A source close to the case told SwimSwam.
He is also a permanently ineligible individual under the U.S. Center for SafeSport’s Code 304.3.14 (Criminal Disposition – Sexual Misconduct) as of September 17, 2024.
In September 2023, the parent of one of Laudati’s swimmers discovered his cellphone recording a girls’ changing room at the Center on Main in Verrado.
Later investigation found photos of partially undressed minors at that pool and the Litchfield Park Recreation Center. The victims were three girls, ages 14 to 17.
A Maricopa County grand jury indicted Laudati in July of 2024 on 11 counts of voyeurism and eight counts of attempted voyeurism.
On July 29, 2024, he was arrested at his Newington, Connecticut, home by U.S. Marshals and Newington police and jailed while awaiting extradition to Arizona.
SafeSport considers an individual permanently ineligible upon conviction or guilty plea for a criminal offense of a sexual nature.
Ineligible individuals are prohibited from all forms of participation, including coaching, officiating, and volunteering, within USA Swimming and other national governing bodies of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
Laudati’s name is listed in the U.S. Center for SafeSport’s disciplinary database, currently listed under “ineligible” under the offense of “criminal disposition – sexual misconduct.”

I expect that pleading guilty to these charges will lead to a non-trivial prison sentence. I really hope that as part of his (and others with similar convictions) eventual release conditions that he will not be able to attend any youth sporting events whatsoever, ever.
