British Swim Coaches Association Honors Jon Rudd as Coach of the Year

The British Swim Coaches and Teachers’ Association (BSCTA) has named Jon Rudd of Plymouth Leander as their Coach of the Year, announced in a ceremony this weekend.

She is not his first success, and with sprinter Ben Proud rising won’t be his last, but his most recent success is Lithuanian breaststroker Ruta Meilutyte, who in the last year broke World Records in the 50 and 100 meter breaststrokes in both short course and long course meters, won both 100 breaststroke World Championships, won a Short Course Championship in the 50 breast, World Championship silvers in the 100 IM (short course) and 50 breast (long course), 4 World Junior titles, and a European Junior Championships.

That’s quite a yearly resume.

As for Proud, he was the winner of the 50 fly at Britain’s World Championship Trials and broke a 10-year old national Record with his 23.10.

In addition to this honor, Rudd has been named England’s head coach for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
