High School (Creighton Prep)

In high school, Jacob set 9 swimming records for the state of Nebraska. One of these included becoming the first swimmer to ever break 53 seconds in the 100 breast in a high school meet, breaking the national high school record in the event. After swimming for Auburn for his first 2 years of college, Molacek returned to his hometown of Creighton to take a gap year. In the fall of 2017, Molacek joined NC State swimming and diving roster.

College (NC State)

In his first year at NC State, Molacek turned heads with his versatility and speed. At his first ACC’s, he was a part of the winning 200 free, 400 free, and 400 medley relays, as well as the runner up 200 medley relay. Individually, he placed 3rd in the 100 free (41.89), 9th in the 100 breast (52.88), and 10th in the 50 free (19.60). At the 2018 NCAA’s, he was a part of the NCAA record setting relays in the 400 and 800 free relays. He swam on every other relay that NC State had, including a runner up 200 free and 400 medley relay, and an 8th place 200 medley relay. He also placed 5th in the 100 free (41.55).

Molacek finished out his senior season strong, swimming everything from the 200 IM to the 200 free in dual meets and midseason invites to score for the wolfpack. At NCAA’s, he swam on the runner up 200 free, 400 free, and 800 free relays, as well as the 4th place 400 medley relay. Individually he swam the 50-100-200 free, scoring in the 200 free with a 1:33.28, good for 14th.
