The Allan Jones Aquatic Center played host to a slew of young talent earlier this month at the Speedo Southern Premier in Knoxville. Among the major names in attendance were Waterloo Swimming’s Ben Jaggers, Lakeside’s Charlotte Crush and Wilson York, and Jersey Wahoos’ Audrey Derivaux.

Jaggers found himself higher up on the 17-18 boys NAG rankings following his performance here, notably winning both the 100 and 200 backstroke races in 46.15 and 1:44.81, respectively. He moved up from a tie for 38th all time in the 17-18 100 back all time rankings into a solo 35th with his three hundredths of a second time drop from his Speedo Winter Juniors performance of 46.18 in December. The future Arizona State Sun Devil was just off his lifetime best in the 200 back, having been faster at those Winter Juniors, touching in 1:44.65.

He still managed to clock several other career bests, including the 100 free as the leadoff leg of Waterloo’s 400 free relay (45.17), the 200 free (1:41.30), 50 backstroke as the opening leg of the 200 medley relay (21.29), and the 100 fly (49.48).

Crush, swimming in her future team’s pool as a Tennessee commit, picked up four wins on the meet, including both the 100 (50.16) and 200 backstrokes (1:49.50). Her 100 back was just over a half second slower than her all-time best of 49.46 from the 2024 Winter Junior Championships. The 200 back was a similar story, finishing less than a second from her top time from those 2024 Winter Juniors of 1:48.69.

In addition to her backstroke wins, Crush also claimed wins in the 50 free in 22.16 and the 100 butterfly in 50.65. She did swim season bests in both the 50 free and 200 free, clocking 21.98 as the opening leg of the 200 free relay, and touching in 1:44.67 in the prelims of the 200 free, though opting not to race in finals of that event.

Crush’s teammate, Wilson York (2028 recruit), managed to notch three career bests and one event win in Knoxville; his one win came in the 200 breast, where he finished just off of his career best of 1:55.14, but still secured the victory in 1:55.83. In the 100 breast, he went on to finish runner-up, swimming a personal best time in 53.56, nearly eight tenths faster than any time he had been before this meet, marking his first sub-54-second 100 breast of his career, and moves him up to 23rd all-time in the 15-16 NAG rankings in the 100 breast.

Audrey Derivaux (Texas Commit) came away from this meet with three wins and one career best of her own; her lone best time came in the 100 back, where she touched only behind eventual winner Crush in 52.61, signaling her first time under the 53-second barrier. Shwe managed to get her hands on the wall first in some of her signature events, including the 200 fly (1:53.15), 200 IM (1:56.15), and the 400 IM (4:01.99).
