Teagan Denne has announced her commitment to swim at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, for her collegiate career. She confirmed the news in an email to SwimSwam, writing:
After a lot of thought, I’m SO EXCITED to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic careers at Trinity University!! None of this would be possible without all of my amazing coaches at Aces, especially Scott, Greg, and Tom. Thank you so much to Coach Cathleen, Mabel, and George for giving me this amazing opportunity! I am so excited for the next 4 years! GO TIGERS!

A senior at Cherry Creek High School in Englewood, Colorado, Denne has been a member of the Bruins’ swimming and diving team since her freshman year. In addition to competing for her high school team, she currently trains year-round with Aces Swim Club, where she primarily specializes in backstroke and sprint freestyle.
Denne is a solid pickup for the Tigers as she has improved in most of her primary events season after season. Over the past year, she’s lowered her 100 back from 59.95 to 59.05, 200 back from 2:09.30 to 2:08.05, 100 free from 56.63 to 56.00, and 200 free from 2:02.64 to 2:00.74. Her 5:19.77 personal best in the 500 free was set in February 2024, but she mostly focused on events 200 and down over the past 12 months.
A three-time qualifier for the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) 5A State meet, Denne finished 23rd in the 100 back (1:00.87) and 39th in the 200 free (2:00.74) this past February. It was an improvement from her sophomore year, when she placed 34th and 38th in the 200 and 500 free, and her freshman year, when she placed 38th in the 500 free.
Her best times in both the 100 back and 100 free were set at the Speedo Sectionals in mid-March, her first time attending the meet. She finished 14th in the 200 back and 25th in the 100 back, while her 100 free was produced in a time trial.
Notably, her current 100 back personal best would have ranked her 15th out of prelims at the state meet and into the ‘B’ final (10 swimmers make each ‘A’ and ‘B’ final), so a second swim could be on the horizon this February at her final CHSAA championship.
Trinity is a private Division III university in San Antonio, Texas. The Tigers are joining the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) as full members starting in the 2025-2026 academic year, moving from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). Denne’s best times would have placed her third in the 200 back, fourth in the 100 back, eighth in the 500 free, 12th in the 200 free, and 13th in the 100 free at last year’s edition of the SAA meet.
On the team’s 2024-25 depth chart, Denne would have ranked third in the 200 back, fourth in the 100 back, sixth in the 500 free, eighth in the 200 free, and 11th in the 100 free. Accounting for graduations and the current freshman class, Denne will rank in comparable spots when she arrives on campus.
Set to join Denne in San Antonio next fall are backstroker Marlene Goddard (58.8/2:05.0) and flyer Macy Williams (55.5/2:01.2 fly, 57.7/2:06.3 back), both of whom should make for strong training partners over the next four years.
