Alabama To Host Second Crimson & White Intrasquad Meet

After a fast fall, the Alabama swimming and diving teams will hold its second Crimson and White Intrasquad of the semester Saturday morning starting at 8 a.m. in the Alabama Aquatic Center.

The men’s and women’s teams will split into Team Crimson and Team White for the event. It will be the Crimson Tide’s final competition prior to final exams and its winter training camps.

Junior Robert Howard leads the Tide coming out of the fall. The Alexander City, Ala., native has the fastest time in the nation this season in the 100 freestyle after turning in a 41.99 at last month’s Georgia Tech Invitational. He is also ranked third nationally in the 50 freestyle and 11th in the 200 freestyle.

Also among the nation’s best this season is senior Luke Kaliszak, who is current ranked fifth in the 100 backstroke, and junior Laurent Bams who is seventh in the 100 breaststroke.

Also ranked in the top-25 nationally are – junior Justine Macfarlane (100 breaststroke/11th; 200 breaststroke/21st), sophomore Zane Waddell (100 freestyle/14th; 100 backstroke/13th; 100 butterfly/23rd), freshman Flora Molnar (50 freestyle/20th; 100 butterfly/23rd) and senior Christopher Reid (200 backstroke/22nd).

In addition to the individual events, Alabama’s men are ranked in the top 10 in the 200 and 400 medley relays as well as the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
