Air Force Men’s Water Polo Splits Matches In Day One At Bucknell Invite

Air Force men’s water polo (12-4) split its two games in opening day action at the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday at Kinney Natatorium on the Bucknell University campus in Lewisburg, Pa. The Falcons defeated Long Island 13-9 and fell to host Bucknell 12-10.

In the opener, the Falcons jumped ahead 4-2 after the first quarter and 8-4 at the half.  LIU pulled to within two with a 4-2 advantage in the third to make it a 10-8 game.  The Falcons out-scored the Sharks 3-1 in the fourth to pull away.

Junior Tom Leggett scored six goals to lead the Falcons. Junior Jack Richards scored three goals.

In the second game, the Falcons were unable to hold an early lead, as Bucknell rallied to the win. The Falcons led 4-3 after the first quarter and 7-6 at the half.

Bucknell took a brief 9-8 lead in the third, but the Falcons scored two straight to go back up 10-9 after three quarters.  The Air Force offense went cold in the fourth, as Bucknell out-scored the Falcons 3-0 in the fourth to rally to the win.

Leggett led the Falcons with four goals.  Richards and senior Colin Chase added two goals each.

The Falcons look to get back on track in day two action Sunday, taking on Gannon.
