Position Summary:
Assists with the coaching and administrative duties of the NCAA Division I swim program. Primary
function is the proper instruction and teaching of the fundamentals of the sport assigned. Secondary
responsibilities include recruiting prospective student-athletes as well as monitoring the current
student-athletes. Other duties will include sport camp involvements as well as certain NCAA duties.
Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 3 years swimming coaching experience
OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 9 years swimming coaching experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Competencies:
• Ability to take direction from head coach
• Expertise in the technical aspects of swimming
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to interact effectively and professionally with coaches, administrators, student
athletes, recruits and vendors
• Extremely organized, detail oriented, self-starter and intrinsically motivated
• Strong management and leadership skills
• Proven ability to multi-task effectively
• Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
• Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and social media
• Availability to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekends
• Travel with sport teams for away contests
• Thorough knowledge of NCAA and American conference rules and regulations
• Understand meet manager and team manager software
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Coaching experience in NCAA Division I Intercollegiate Athletics
• Coaching experience within a swim camp at a high level
NCAA Related:
Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance
with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled
compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance
with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when
necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance
paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities
closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
