2026 SPANISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

The final day of the 2026 Spanish Open Championships took place today in Sabadell, with newly minted national record holder Maria Daza following up her 100m free victory with another gold in the 200m free.

The 18-year-old stopped the clock at a solid result of 1:57.15 to beat her peers by well over a second en route to putting up the best time of her career.

Daza split 27.08/29.26/30.35/30.46 to obliterate her former PB of 1:58.81 nearly two years ago.

Teammate Ainhoa Campabadal scored silver tonight in 1:58.48 and Italy’s Sara Gailli hit 2:00.44 for the bronze.

Daza now ranks as the #2 Spanish women’s 200m freestyler of all time, while Campabadal’s time also represented a new personal best by .17 to remain the 5th-best.
