Like every other day of the 2026 Roseville sectionals, the biggest story of the final day was Luka Mijatovic. The 16-year-old’s weekend action crescendoed to a U.S. Open Record in the 1000 free, hitting an unprecedented 8:32.83. See the full article on this feat, which was the first time since Michael Phelps that a male high schooler held a SCY U.S. Open record, here.

That doesn’t mean that Mijatovic was the only noteworthy story of the final session in Roseville. In fact, there was another eye-popping swim in the same event. San Ramon’s Ryan Mak dropped six seconds to become the #3 13-14 performer in the country with a 9:20.81. Mak placed third in the event behind Mijatovic and 17-year-old Michael Powell (9:06.83).

The girl’s side of the session also had its own 14-year-old star. This was Aya Gillis-Pade, who stormed to a 1:55.20 200 back victory. This wiped out her previous personal best of 1:56.32 from winter juniors, and it places her as the fastest in her age group nationwide by over a second this season. It also took down the Pacific LSC age group record, previously held by Daniela Linares Danzos at 1:55.40.

Another notable winner on the younger end came from Tommy Jiang in the 200 IM. At 15 years of age, Jiang rocked a 1:47.91 to lead the A final. This slashed over a second off the DART athlete’s lifetime best and shot him up to #3 in his single age group nationwide.

The men’s 50 fly proved one of the best races of the evening. Brandon Ha of DART and Jordan Ragland duked it out in the middle lanes of the pool. Ha held his #1 seed, but Ragland cut the #2 gap from .8 in prelims to less than .1 in the finals, touching in 21.12 to Ha’s 21.04. It marked a personal best for both gentlemen, who are elite D1 Class of 2030 commits: Ha to Northwestern and Ragland to Cal.
