Eight different athletes broke individual Hawaiian Swimming LSC records at the 2025 SCY Hawaii Senior Championships on Nov. 21-23 in Honolulu, led by two boys who took down four marks apiece.

Lahaina Swim Club’s Cruz Storer, 15, set four new records in the boys’ 15-16 age group en route to winning five state titles.

Storer set new records in the 50 free (20.41), 100 free (44.66), 50 back (22.52) and 100 back (48.96), winning all four races at the meet. He also won the 200 back in a personal best of 1:49.32, with the state record standing at 1:46.22 from Hongze Sun in 2001.

Storer now ranks 1st in the country this season among 15-year-old boys in the 50 and 100 free, and also ranks 2nd in the 50 back, 3rd in the 100 back and 8th in the 200 back. In the 15-16 age group, he ranks 2nd in the 50 back, 4th in the 100 free and 8th in the 50 free.

Coming into the meet, his best times stood at 21.02 in the 50 free, 46.28 in the 100 free, 23.56 in the 50 back, 50.35 in the 100 back and 1:53.71 in the 200 back.

He added a best time of 1:39.26 in the 200 free, placing 3rd while lowering his previous best of 1:40.07.

Also lowering four LSC records at the meet was Connor Ventura, a 12-year-old out of the Maui Swim Club, who came into the meet with his name already littered all over the record book for 11-12 boys.

Ventura added to it in Honolulu, first taking hold of the boys’ 11-12 50 fly record in the ‘D’ final, racing swimmers up to six years his elder, as he clocked 24.55 to erase the longstanding mark of 24.73 set by Kevin Frifeldt in 2009. Ventura had set a best time of 25.04 in the prelims. He came into the meet with a PB of 25.69, set in October.

Ventura followed up by shattering his own record in the 100 free, clocking 50.05 to knock off the 51.18 mark he produced in March. Prior to that, the record had stood at 51.63 from Connor Seminavage in 2018.

Ventura also clocked 25.75 in the 50 back to take down Seminavage’s record LSC record of 25.77 from 2018, and in the 50 free, Ventura blasted a time of 23.01 to chip three-tenths off the previous record of 23.31 set by Flexx Faildo in 2021.

Ventura now owns eight Hawaii Swimming LSC short course records for 11-12 boys, also owning the 200 free (1:50.25), 200 back (2:05.47), 200 IM (2:04.76) and 400 IM (4:27.51) marks.

In the boys’ 11-12 age group this season, Ventura ranks 2nd in the 50 fly, 3rd in the 50 back, 4th in the 50 free and 6th in the 100 free. He also moves to 32nd all-time in the 50 fly, 46th in the 50 back, 77th in the 100 free and 86th in the 50 free.
