Michigan State Qualifier Caitlyn LeBel has sent her verbal commitment to stay in state next year at Wayne State University for the class of 2026.

LeBel attends Eisenhower Utica High School in Michigan, and at the 2025 State Championships, she finished 11th in the girls 100 breaststroke, setting a new personal best time of 1:07.04 in the finals. In the 200 IM, she finished 18th at 2:13.58, which was also a new personal best time.
In March, she raced at the MI MLA ULTRA Championships with her club team OLY. There, she set her 200 breaststroke personal best of 2:28.44.

Wayne State is a Division II school in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and their women’s team finished 3rd at last season’s championships, scoring 650 points to come in just over 100 points behind Northern Michigan.
LeBel is joining a breaststroke group that put three swimmers in the final at last year’s conference meet. Her best time would have qualified 14th out of prelims at last year’s championships, where she would have finished 15th overall, just ahead of Abby Wampler from Davenport.
In the 200 breast, she would have been just outside of finals position with the 16th qualifier sitting at 2:26.25.
She will join Mary-Kate Wayne on campus in the fall for the Warriors.
