We’ve already seen some extremely impressive swims at the 2025 Chinese National Games and more are on the way as we enter day three.

18-year-old Zhang already fired off a new World Junior Record in the 400m free to kick off his campaign.
Sun Yang will also be in the men’s 200m free main event, sneaking into the medal-contending race in an outside lane.
The women’s 1500m free, 100m back and 100m breast finals are also on tonight’s agenda, as is the final of the men’s 100m back.
We’ll see if Xu Jiayu can improve upon the stellar 52.70 he put up in last night’s semi-final in order to rank #1 in the world at the moment.

Zhang Zhanshuo seems like China’s guy for men’s mid-distance swimming going forward
3:42.8 and 1:44.8 at 18 is pretty serious stuff
What a discovery u just did
I think Pan just doesn’t care about the 200. And he’s not in his best form, not expecting a 46 mid in the 100, maybe not even a 46 at all
Photo curse got Pan
Today, Xu Jiayu was visibly happier than usual at the finish line because the second and third-place swimmers finally broke the 54-second mark. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such a radiant smile from Xu Jiayu. I hope the other competitors continue to improve so Xu Jiayu doesn’t have to carry all the burden.
Man’s looking forward to his retirement😂 he has been carrying China’s men’s backstroke for like a full decade or more now
It feels like Tang is a consistent 1:05 low swimmer and that 1:04.3 was a one off swim.
Still a medal contender thought with that consistent 1:05 low.
She tends to go out super quick on the first 50m and gas out quite a bit on the last 25m. I think that 1:04.3 was a swim where she managed to hit a perfect pacing, but hasn’t been able to reproduce since. I think she’s still got the chops for a 1:04, but she has to figure out how to put it together again.
