Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Milano, Italy, native Ludovica Di Maria has verbally committed to the University of Southern California as a part of the Trojan women’s 2026 recruiting class.
After careful consideration, I am honoured to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and sports career at USC, Los Angeles. First of all, I want to thank my family, my Italian coach Carlo and coaches Brooks and Lea for this great opportunity. Come on Trojans! 💪🏼
Di Maria represented her home country of Italy at the 2025 World Aquatics Junior Championships (LCM), placing 18th in the girls’ 100 backstroke (1:02.01) while setting a personal best of 1:00.94 leading off Italy’s 4×100 medley relay.
Early this past July, Di Maria swam a lifetime best in the 50 free at the European Junior Championships (LCM), clocking 25.94 to place 14th. Additionally, she finished 8th in the 50 back (28.87) and 9th in the 100 back (1:02.27).
Di Maria also boasts LCM best times of 56.60 in the 100 free from the World Junior Championships and 28.72 in the 50 back at the Campionato Italiano Assoluto in April.
Best Times Converted to SCY:
| Event | LCM | SCY Conversion |
| 50 Back | 28.72 | 25.33 |
| 100 Back | 1:00.94 | 53.81 |
| 50 Free | 25.92 | 22.63 |
| 100 Free | 56.60 | 49.54 |
The USC women finished 5th at the 2025 Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships.
Based on Di Maria’s best converted times, she would have projected to finish tied for 26th in the 50 free, and qualified for the ‘C’ final in the 100 back and 100 free.
Di Maria has an international resume that suggests that she should fare well in the Big Ten. Her event range is limited, strictly sprint free and back, but she is a potential point scorer in all three by the time that she makes her collegiate debut.
Her converted 100 back would have been 4th on last season’s roster, and her 50 back would have been 5th, showing the potential impact she could have on future relays.
Di Maria joins Brigitta Vass, Maxine Clark, Rylee Hutchinson, Ella Gaca Thiele and Hailey Weiler in the Trojans’ 2026 recruiting class.
