Langley & Abbotsford Olympians’ Danny Park has verbally committed to Southern Methodist University as a part of the 2026 recruiting class.

The Langley, British Columbia native, who is a wide-ranging freestyle specialist, notched a handful of bests at the VPSC Winter Invitational last December. There, Park notched best short course meter times in the 200 free (1:49.25), 400 free (3:52.54), 800 free (8:12.31), 1500 free (15:39.17), and 400 IM (4:22.52).

Park had an impressive outing at the Canadian Swimming Trials (LCM) earlier this summer, where he finished 2nd in the 200 fly (2:01.78), 9th in both the 200 free (1:54.51) and 400 free (4:02.56), and 10th in the 800 free (8:28.65). His 200 fly was a best time, while he set a pair of lifetime standards in the prelims of the 200 free (1:54.17), and 400 free (4:01.75).

Another nice showing came at the 2025 Summer Provincial Championships this past July, where he marked best long course times in the 100 free (51.91), 100 fly (55.23), and 800 free (8:23.21).

Best Times Converted to SCY:

The SMU men, led by head coach Greg Rhodenbaugh, finished 11th at the 2025 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships.

Based on his converted times, Park would have been predicted to finish 50th in the 200 free, 38th in the 500 free, and 21st in the 1650 free.

Park will be a nice boost to an already well established mid/distance group at SMU that scored 85 of their 434 points between the 200/500/1650 freestyle events.  He fits the mold well, with his converted times, he would have been 7th on last season’s roster in the 500 free, 6th in the 1000 free, and 6th in the 1650 free.

Park has high level racing experience, which will come in handy in the highly competitive and tight ACC conference.

Danny Park is the only publicized recruit for the 2026 class at the time of publication.
