Brain-Eating Amoeba (Naegleria fowleri) Se Kaise Bache

Bahut log news me “brain eating amoeba” ke baare me sunte hai, lekin asal me ye kya hota hai, kaise spread hota hai aur kitna dangerous hai, ye sabko clear nahi hota. Yahaan poori detail me samajhiye.

Kya hai Naegleria fowleri?

  • Ye ek single-celled organism hai jo warm freshwater me paya jata hai jaise ki lakes, rivers, hot springs, aur poorly maintained swimming pools.
  • Ye infection karta hai jise Primary Amoebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM) kehte hai, jo directly brain ko affect karta hai.

Infection kaise hota hai?

  • Ye amoeba sirf nose ke through body me enter karta hai jab insaan contaminated warm water me swimming, diving ya head dunk karta hai.
  • Nose se ye olfactory nerve ke through brain tak pahunch jata hai.
  • Important: Agar contaminated paani pee liya jaye to infection nahi hota.

Symptoms (exposure ke 1–9 din baad)

  1. Severe headache
  2. Fever aur nausea
  3. Stiff neck
  4. Vomiting
  5. Confusion ya concentration problem
  6. Seizures
  7. Coma

Ye disease bahut fast progress karti hai aur 5–18 din ke andar jaan le leti hai.

Fatality Rate

  • Cases duniya bhar me bahut rare hote hai, lekin agar hote hai to unme se 95% se zyada fatal hote hai.
  • Sirf kuch hi log is infection se bacha paaye hai.

Prevention Tips

  • Garmiyo me warm freshwater me swimming avoid kare.
  • Agar swimming karni hi ho to nose clip use kare ya head ko paani ke upar rakhe.
  • Freshwater me sediment (mitti ya soil) ko disturb na kare.
  • Swimming pools hamesha properly chlorinated hone chahiye.
  • Nasal rinsing ke liye hamesha distilled, sterile ya boiled water ka use kare.

Naegleria fowleri (brain-eating amoeba) ko warm freshwater pasand hai.

  • Ye aam taur par 25°C to 40°C temperature me grow karta hai.
  • Iska growth sabse zyada 35°C to 46°C ke beech hota hai (jo human body ke temperature ke kareeb hai).
  • Ye boiling water (above 50°C) me survive nahi karta.
  • Cold water ya sea water me ye survive nahi karta.

Number of cases aur deaths

Spread pattern

  • Ab cases ek particular water source se cluster nahin ho rahe; zyada “isolated” ya individual cases hain state bhar mein. Al Jazeera+2Reuters+2
  • Sabhi umra ke log affected hain — bacche, jawan, buddhe. Ek 3-maheene ka baccha bhi shaamil hai. Reuters+1

Fatality / Survival Rate

  • Global fatality rate bahut zyada hai (around 95-97%) PAM (Primary Amoebic Meningoencephalitis) ke cases mein. Reuters+1
  • Kerala mein kuch behtar cases hain, matlab survival rate thoda improve hua hai kyunki diagnosis jaldi ho raha hai aur treatment protocols better hain. Reuters+1

Proposed reasons / contributing factors

  • Garm mausam aur paani ka temperature badhna — climate change ka role ho sakta hai. Reuters
  • Log zyada fresh water lakes, rivers ya tanks me ja rahe hain, ya public bathing sources ka paani shaayad achhi tarah maintain nahi ho raha. Al Jazeera+1
  • Water bodies, wells, water tanks, public bathing areas ko chlorinate karne ki koshish shuru hogayi hai. Reuters+1

Government response / preventive measures

  • Water tanks, wells, public bathing spots etc. ko chlorination ka order diya gaya hai. Reuters+1
  • Public health advisories jaari ki gayi hain: untreated ya stagnant freshwater se bachne ki salah, nakshepe (nose clips) ka use, agar kisi ko symptoms ho rahe ho toh time se medical help lena. www.ndtv.com+2www.ndtv.com+2

Conclusion

Naegleria fowleri infection rare hai lekin bahut dangerous hai. Darne ki zarurat nahi hai, bas awareness aur prevention ki zarurat hai.
