Freestyle and butterfly specialist Peyton Keggins, from Klein, Texas, has committed to swim and study at Western Colorado University, beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. Keggins swims year-round with Premier Aquatics Club of Klein and attends Klein Cain High School.
Keggins confirmed the commitment in an email to SwimSwam, writing:
I am beyond blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment and to further my swimming career and studies at Western Colorado University. The team atmosphere, coaches, and beautiful mountain setting made it feel like the perfect fit. I believe God gives each of us unique gifts for a specific purpose. I’m excited to discover more about that purpose as I move forward. Thank you to everyone has helped me through this journey thank you to TeamFINS, PACK, and Klein Cain HS. Thank you to my parents for always supporting me and big thank you’s to Coach Shane, Coach Kyle, and Coach Travis for always believing in me and pushing me far beyond my limits. GO MOUNTAINEERS!
Keggins’ standout high school meet this season was the UIL Region 4-6A Championship in February, where she secured career bests in the 100 free (53.68), 200 free (1:55.39), and 100 fly (58.30). She took 6th in the 200 free and 5th in the 100 fly, with her 100 free best coming on the leadoff leg of Klein Cain’s 4th-place 400 free relay. She also split 24.31 on the 200 free relay that captured third.
The 200 free relay advanced to the state championship, where she posted a 24.73 split to help the team finish 17th—just 0.47 outside of making the consolation final.
A week after the high school season concluded, she wrapped up her short course season at the Gulf Swimming 13 & Over Championships. Her best finish came in the 100 free, where she touched in 53.93 for second. She also earned silver in the 200 fly with a personal-best 2:12.96, and picked up bronze medals in both the 200 free (1:56.42) and 100 fly (59.30).

Western Colorado University is a Division II program located in Gunnison, Colorado. The Mountaineers compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and placed 4th out of 9 teams at the 2025 conference meet. The team is led by Vickie Fellows, who is entering her fifth season at the helm.
The conference meet offers ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C’ finals, with the top 24 advancing for a second swim. It took times of 24.86 in the 50 free, 54.50 in the 100 free, 1:57.64 in the 200 free, 5:24.61 in the 500 free, 1:01.45 in the 100 fly, and 2:31.67 in the 200 fly to earn finals swims.

On the team itself, Keggins’s best times would have ranked 2nd in the 100 fly, 3rd in the 200 free, 4th in the 100 free, 4th in the 500 free, and 4th in the 200 fly this past season.
