World University Games ke Day 4 par unhone 100m freestyle me 49.46 swim kiya aur Virdhawal Khade ka 2008 se bana record sirf 0.01 second se tod diya.
Nataraj ne is meet me ab tak 2 records banaye hain – 100 freestyle aur 200 freestyle me.
Baaki 2 records aaye Benedicton Rohit Beniston Manickaraj ke naam – 50m butterfly me unhone pehle 24.00 swim kiya, phir semi-final me usse bhi fast 23.96. Ye pehli baar hai kisi Indian swimmer ne 50 fly me 24 seconds ke neeche swim kiya ho.
Rohit ki kahani bhi inspiring hai — janm ke waqt unka thigh bone fractured tha. Fitness ke liye swimming shuru ki thi, aur ab ek saal me 4 National Records tod chuke hain.
Nataraj ne 200 free me 1:48.11 ki swim karke apna hi record break kiya. Sirf 0.07 seconds se final miss kiya, overall 9th finish ki.
Ab unke naam long course me 4 records hain: 200 free, 100 free, 50 back aur 100 back. Short course me bhi 4 records unke paas hain – saare backstroke aur 100 free me.
Sirf July ke mahine me Indian swimmers ne 13 naye National Records banaye hain.
2025 Indian swimming ke liye ab tak ka sabse promising year lag raha hai. Agle saal Commonwealth aur Asian Games bhi aa rahe hain.
India ki World Championship team (Singapore) bhi announce ho chuki hai – total 6 swimmers jaa rahe hain, jisme se 4 ke paas current national records hain:
- Rohit Manickaraj – 50 aur 100 fly
- Shoan Ganguly – 200 aur 400 IM
- Aryan Nehra – 800m freestyle
- Srihari Nataraj – freestyle aur backstroke ke kai records
India ka ye sabse bada World Championship squad hai 2019 ke baad.
