Through day two of the 2025 Danish Open, there have already been several impressive performances, primarily at the hands of 17-year-old Martine Damborg.
Damborg established two new Danish Junior Records, first in the 50m fly and then in the 100m free.
Teenager Damorg logged a time of 26.06 to win the women’s 50m fly, overtaking her previous personal best and Danish Junior mark of 26.21 established last year.
Damborg’s result dipped under the World Aquatics ‘A’ standard of 26.23 needed to qualify for Singapore this summer.
Next up was the 100m free where Damborg touched in a lifetime best of 54.62 for the gold.
Opening in 26.48 and closing in 28.14, Damborg held a narrow advantage over Iris Julia Berger who settled for silver in 54.83 followed by Elisabeth Sabroe Ebbesen who rounded out the podium in 55.26.
Mie O. Nielsen held the previous Danish Junior Record in this event, courtesy of the 55.10 she notched in 2023.
Damborg’s 54.62 result was less than half a second off the Singapore-worthy ‘A’ standard of 54.25.
Additional Notes
- Helena Rosendahl-Bach captured gold in the women’s 200m fly by nearly 8 seconds. She touched in 2:07.70 to easily dip under the World Aquatics ‘A’ standard of 2:09.21 needed for Singapore. Rosendahl-Bach’s lifetime best remains at the 2:06.65 she produced last year in Paris.
- Robert Falborg Pedersen hit a time of 25.00 as the men’s 50m backstroke victor, narrowly clearing the ‘A’ cut of 25.11 needed for Singapore.
- The men’s 50m breast saw Jonas Gaurav get it done for gold in 27.33, matching exactly the World Aquatics ‘A’ standard needed for the World Championships.
Hastig svømning!
I wonder if she’ll get three.
