Danas Rapsys Heads Up Lithuanian Roster For 2023 European SC Championships

The 2023 European Short Course Championships are coming up in December and the nation of Lithuania has revealed its 6-strong lineup set to compete.

Freestyle ace Danas Rapsys heads up the men’s portion of the lineup, with the 28-year-old Olympian scheduled to race the 200m and 400m events.

Rapsys just wrapped up competing on the World Aquatics World Swimming Cup circuit where he finished 5th overall in the points standings.

Joining Rapsys at the European SC Championships will be Andrius Sidlauskas, Erikas Grigaitis, Kajus Stankevicius and Adomas Gatulis. Just one woman will be making the trek, as Smilte Plytnykaite is slated to race the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle events.

Although Ruta Meilutyte, Kotryna Teterevkova, Aleksas Savickas, Daniil Pancerevas and Tomas Navikonis all achieved qualifying times for Romania, the athletes are opting out of competing due to incompatibility with their training plans.

At the last edition of the European Short Course Championships which took place in Kazan in 2021, Lithuania wound up medal-less.
