INDIANAPOLIS – Oakland swept the Nike #HLSD Swimmers of Week on Tuesday with junior Mack Flowers and freshman Sohvi Nenonen each earning the honors. The Golden Grizzlies took on Northwestern and UIC last week.
2019 Nike® Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Mack Flowers | Oakland | Junior | St. Albert, Alberta, Canada
Flowers won the 50 free & 100 fly vs. Northwestern w/ both times posting the top time in the Horizon League. He was also on the 2nd place 200 MR & the 1st place 400 free relays that posted the top times in the League. The next day facing HL foe, UIC, Flowers went on to win the 50 free, the 100 free (the HL top time), the 100 fly and was on the winning 200 MR.
2019 Nike® Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Sohvi Nenonen | Oakland | Freshman | Cetus, Finland
Facing Northwestern, Sohvi Nenonen swam the top time in the Horizon League in the 200 fly placing third while also placing third with the third fastest time in the 100 free. The Finnish native was also a leg of the 400 free relay that recorded the fastest time in the Horizon League.
Swimming against UIC, Nenonen won three events including the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, and the 400 IM.
