Indiana’s Timothy Cater Sends Verbal Commitment to Cal Poly

Timothy Cater has verbally committed to California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo starting with the 2018-19 season.

“I’m extremely excited to announce that I have verbally committed to swim and study at Cal Polytechnic University! The team was so welcoming, and the coaches were so amazing! They want the best for you athletically and academically! The facilities were outstanding, and the campus was so beautiful! I can’t wait to be a Mustang!”

Cater hails from Fort Wayne, Indiana where he attends Carroll High School. At the 2017 IHSAA Boys Swimming & Diving Championship last February, he placed 12th in the 100 fly (51.41) and tied for 16th in the 200 IM (1:54.27), but was edged out in the swim-off and thus missed swimming in the final. The following month he competed at the Indiana Swimming Senior Short Course Championships with his club team Fort Wayne Swim Team, and notched PBs in the 200 fly and 200/400 IM. This summer he wrapped up his long course season with lifetime bests in the 200 IM and 400 IM at NCSA Summer Championship.

SCY times:

  • 200 fly – 1:52.45
  • 100 fly – 50.92
  • 400 IM – 4:06.29
  • 200 IM – 1:54.27
