Sprinter Alexa Fusari Gives Verbal Commitment to UCSB

Alexa Fusari from Diablo Aquatics in Northern California has verbally committed to swim for University of California, Santa Barbara for the 2017-2018 season.

“I chose UCSB because of the close knit team environment, incredible coaching staff, and gorgeous location. I truly feel UCSB will be a great fit for me to grow both academically and athletically. I am looking forward to being apart of this dynamic team!

“I want to thank my coaches, team mates, friends, and family for helping me reach this goal. It means so much to me and I am extremely grateful!” [sic]

A senior at San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, Fusari is a three-time All American and a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. Individually, she has been a finalist in the 50 and 100 freestyle events at the CIF-North Coast Section championship meet in each of the past few years, and was a finalist in the 50 and 100 freestyles at the 2016 CIF State Championships. Fusari has been an integral member of SRV’s relays as well. She helped the Wolves stand victorious at the NCS Championships with relay wins in the 200 free and 200 medley relays over the past 3 years. In 2014, she was a member of the winning 200 free relay squad that broke the NCS record.

  • 50 free: 23.69 (22.91 relay split)
  • 100 free: 51.65
  • 200 free: 1:52. 62
  • 100 fly: 57.61
  • 100 back: 57.81

She will join UC Santa Barbara’s class of 2021 with fellow commit Jacquelyn Harris.
