Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Junior Nationals qualifier Kian Grabar has announced his verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Pittsburgh beginning in the fall of 2027, becoming the first publicized commit in the Panthers’ class of 2031.
I’m honored to announce my commitment and continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Pittsburgh! First I want to thank God, who guiding me through every step of this journey and giving me a reason to give every day my all. I also want to thank my parents, my teammates and my Coaches for helping and supporting me through the process. Lastly, I wanted to say a big thank you to the amazing coaching staff at Pitt especially Coach Matt and Coach Kaersten for this incredible opportunity. I am super excited for what’s coming up ahead. Hail to Pitt 🔵🟡 #H2P
A rising high school senior, Grabar trains year-round with Crimson Aquatics in Andover, Massachusetts, where he specializes in butterfly, backstroke, middle-distance freestyle, and IM.
Grabar is coming off a breakthrough 2025-26 short course season that saw him drop nearly 8.5 seconds in the 400 IM, roughly 7 seconds in the 500 free, about 3 seconds in both the 100 fly, 200 fly, and 200 free, around 2 seconds in both the 200 IM and 100 back, and just under a second in the 200 back.
All of his current personal bests, shown below, were clocked at various club meets throughout the season: Winter Juniors – East and the NE NSSC Senior Championship in December, the NE CRIM 15-18 Championships in February, and Speedo Sectionals – Ithaca in March. He holds Winter Juniors cuts in the 200 fly, 400 IM, and 1000 free (a non-collegiate championship event), as well as Summer Juniors cuts in the 200 fly and 400 IM.
