2026 French Elite Championships: 7 Women and 10 Men Qualified for Euros After Meet

2026 FRENCH ELITE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2026 French Elite Championships wrapped up on Thursday, and that means some of the roster is finalized as athletes have done everything they can to qualify.

The final day of competition saw one additional athlete added to the team with Nikita Baez swimming 21.93 in the men’s 50 freestyle to win the event and come in a little more than a tenth under the QT of 22.05.

As a reminder, here is how qualification works:

  • The top four swimmers at the meet may be selected to the meet, provided they earn the French qualifying standard in the ‘A’ final at the French Elite Championships
  • Subject to availability, athletes who swam qualifying times at the French Junior Championships may be selected to the team
  • For the women’s, men’s, and mixed freestyle relays, selection will be proposed for the top four swimmers from the A-final whose combined individual performances meet the required relay time. The times recorded in the heats may be considered to validate the relay time.

Following the 6th day of competition, seven women are locked into qualification along with 10 men. There are also a few provisional qualifiers based on relays along with one potential junior qualifier in Jeanne Lechevalier based on her 50 backstroke performance at the French Junior Championships in May.

On top of Baez’s qualification in the 50 free, Yohann Ndoye-Brouard and Mewen Tomac both added the 100 backstroke to their event lineup.
