Astha Choudhury Clinches Gold in Women’s 200m Butterfly at 79th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2026

Ahmedabad, June 2026: The Women’s 200m Butterfly Final at the 79th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2026 witnessed an impressive performance from Astha Choudhury (RSP), who secured the gold medal with a time of 2:18.37 at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, Naranpura, Ahmedabad.

Representing RSP, Astha maintained a strong pace throughout the race and finished comfortably ahead of the competition. Dakshina Joshi claimed the silver medal in 2:20.82, while Sanithi Mukherjee (West Bengal) took bronze with a time of 2:22.76.

The remaining finalists also delivered competitive performances. Shristi Upadhaya (Odisha) finished fourth in 2:24.07, followed closely by Roshini Balasubramanian (Tamil Nadu) in fifth with 2:24.95. Dhriti Yogesh Ahirwal (Maharashtra) placed sixth in 2:25.71, while Dayanitha Sankar (Tamil Nadu) and Nirmayee Sachin Ambetkar (Maharashtra) finished seventh and eighth with times of 2:29.80 and 2:30.88, respectively.

The championship continues to showcase some of India’s finest swimming talent, with athletes from across the country competing for national honors in Ahmedabad.
